Division 3 v Sebastopol It come down to the final end for Ballan to capture a stunning 90 – 89 victory over Sebastopol. Dave O’Hanlon was left to watch in hope as his opponents last bowl fell short and was given the opportunity to declare the head, resulting in a rink draw and a one-shot overall win. “It was fantastic to win in those circumstances.” O’Hanlon said, “The amount of shots the entire side clawed back in the last 10 ends was the true reason we were able to win today.” Brad Coffey was the only winning rink with a 15-shot triumph.
John Couch and Neville Smith were defeated by 11 and three-shots respectively. Ballan will have their first encounter with Ballarat Memorial Sports this Saturday.
Division 9 v North Ballarat Ballan never looked in doubt as they flexed their muscles in a dominating 86-shot win over North Ballarat. In their third match up of the season, Ballan moved to 7-0 with the 124 – 38 score line. Ballan Manager Eddy Pitcher said the performance was an example of working hard on and off the green. “We are really starting to gel well together as a team and it is starting to show with these results.” Pitcher said, “We have set ourselves season goals and we are achieving many of them to date.” In a standout performance, Donna Robinson unleashed a brutal 66-shot victory. In other results Charlie Farrugia claimed a 15-shot triumph, while John Ellery clinched a close five-shot win.
In Round Nine Ballan will play host to Beaufort Golf.
