Ballarat Cabaret Festival Returns with a launch

Graeme Russell Her Majesty’s Theatre Manager, Jacinta Antonelli and Pauline Sculley.

FROM 6-11 October the Ballarat Cabaret Festival returns for the fourth year with 23 shows across five Ballarat CBD venues.

The 2015 Ballarat Cabaret Festival will open this year with the Opening Gala in the Ballaarat Mining Exchange giving audiences a glimpse of the festival with performances from a star line up.

The Mining Exchange also plays host to this year’s festival closing act as Rob Mills performs ‘Rob Mills is… surprisingly good.’ Returning artists include Michael Griffiths and Amelia Ryan.

2015 also sees the return of Caravan Burlesque. The sell-out sensation of the first Ballaarat Cabaret Festival in 2012 – and this year they return to Rock The ‘Rat’ with four performances. As in previous years, smaller spaces play an important part with performances in the Bluestone Cellar at Craig’s Royal Hotel and the Federation University’s PO Box Theatre. Helen MacPherson Smith Theatre plays host to Ballarat’s very own Luke Tonkin and Kaleidoscope – a cabaret tribute to Jim Morrison.

Providing a platform for emerging artists, In Development returns for 2015.

This program offers graduating students from the Music Theatre Course at Federation University Arts Academy a chance to develop work and present to it to a new audience.

At last week’s launch students from In Development gave a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming cabaret.
