Last chance to register for 2016 Begonia Parade

REGISTRATIONS for the Ballarat Begonia Festival – Power FM Begonia Parade close on Friday (05/02). Rally your workplace, school, organisation or group and register for the 2016 event on Monday 14 March at 11am. A community favourite, the Power FM Begonia Parade will depart from the Tramway Museum and finish at the North Gardens.

The Power FM Begonia Parade is a wonderful celebration of Ballarat’s vibrant and diverse community and a great opportunity for the community to showcase their role within our local community in front of thousands of spectators.

Awards will be presented in the following categories, the Mayor’s Choice, Best Schools Entry, Best Community Entry, Best Business Entry and Best Musical Entry. The Ballarat Begonia Festival will be held over the Labour Day long weekend, Saturday 12 to Monday 14 March from 10am to 5pm.

It is FREE and easy to register for the Power FM Begonia Parade.

Ballarat Backyard Tasters starts this weekend

CELEBRATE summer and the end of the working week at Ballarat’s favourite FREE Friday night chill-out event Ballarat Backyard Tasters. The first of the City of Ballarat’s FREE Ballarat Backyard Tasters event series kicks off this Friday, 5 February at Alfred Deakin Place from 6 to 9pm. Come and enjoy a selection of Ballarat’s best local and live music, food and fun! Held across four Fridays 5, 12, 19 and 26 February, Ballarat Backyard Tasters is a FREE community event hosted by the City of Ballarat. Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival’s inaugural Valentine’s Day Prom!

THE Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival will be hosting its first Valentine’s Day Prom on Sunday 14 February 2016 in the Ballarat Mining Exchange!

A “sock hop” with fancy frocks and bobby socks, the Valentine’s Day Prom will be the hottest party in town and a chance to dress up and step back in time for truly 50’s style experience. With everything you’d expect of a classic 1950’s prom, party goers will enjoy live music by international Rockabilly bands, The Kingcats (UK) and CC Jerome (Netherlands), along with Australia’s Cherry Divine and rockin’ DJs. Starting at 7pm, free carnations will be handed out to the first 100 guests and there will even be a prize awarded to the King and Queen of the prom! Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival will feature 4 fabulous days of Rockabilly fun. Starting on Thursday evening, 11 February, with live International band performances, Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival will continue on Friday night, 12 February, with more live music.

Then, over 2 full days on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February 2016, Lydiard Street will be closed off for Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival’s free street party including market stalls vintage and hot rod cars, live music, dancing and more!

Sunday evening will see festival goers capping off the weekend at the Valentine’s Day Prom.” Event Manager, Beth Lamont, said. “We’re Very excited about the Valentine’s Day Prom! It’s An event for anyone who loves to dance and party. Bring your date, or meet them there! The live music performances, the fashion, the dancing and the vibe will all be a wonderful way to celebrate the end to 2016’s Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival.”
