THE long-awaited Ballarat Live Music Strategy Advisory Committee has roared into life, beginning its exploration of how Council can best support & sustain development of our local live music industry.
Chaired by Cr. Belinda Coates, with Cr. Glen Crompton as Vice Chair, the Committee is made up of prominent members of the local live music scene: Shaun Adams, Tony Lovett, Lachlan Anderson, Alex Martino, Dani Fry, Adam Simmons, Rex Hardware, Mick Trembath, Bryn Hills, Damien Wieland, and Allan Kealy.
Existing Committee members will each represent a community of interested stakeholders, and the Committee is seeking engaged, informed and knowledgeable people to serve on Music Advisory Sub-Committees exploring the following issues: Development & Regulations CBD & neighbourhood development, venue & event permits, parking, transport, security, venues, future development / gentrification; Live Music Events & Event Integration – Existing landscape & gaps, Council initiatives, commercial initiatives, major vs. ongoing programming, community events, all-ages gigs, multicultural engagement, potential events; Live Music Marketing & Promotion Ballarat “brand” and point of difference, perceived social environment, gig information, opportunities, audience development, collaborative networks, media, resources; Music Education & Professional Development Emerging artist exposure, busking, professional skills & business development, current & potential secondary / higher education initiatives.
So if you have what it takes – commitment, connections, expertise, passion – to contribute practical support to developing a live music strategy for Ballarat & beyond, then please put your hand up for a role on a Live Music Advisory SubCommittee!
