SATURDAY saw the presentations of the winners of the various sections in the Club’s junior ladder competitions. The competition caters for players of all levels and is conducted in a friendly and fun environment. Quite advanced and skilful players compete as do quite a number of beginners, who have never played before. With the help of many parents the beginners are able to learn the basic skills of tennis to enable them to be able to advance and play more competitive tennis. This is the second season the club has conducted this competition and player numbers have grown steadily over the two years. Tim Collins won the Orange section and he was hotly pursued by Renae Batten who finished a close second. Oliver Williams was winner of section 2 and once again this was narrowly won from a rapidly improving Lukas Burke.

The Elite section contained some excellent players and the final winner Riley Steven overcame the runner up Liam O’Shea in the final round of competition to win Denis Day Award by the narrowest of margins. Next term the ladder competition will be held after school of a Wednesday evening starting at 4:00pm.
