Buninyong update

Works to construct a new skate park, as part of the Youth Activity Space in? Buninyong, is underway with the project expected to be complete in January. Located on the corner of Inglis and Forest Street, the new facility will provide an up-to-date skate park for Buninyong’s young people. The project includes current skate elements, basketball facilities. The new facility is being delivered as part of the City of Ballarat’s Engaging Communities Program in partnership with the Buninyong Community Bank. The City of Ballarat has contributed $60,000 to the project and the Buninyong Community Bank has invested $30,000.

Brown Hill update

Brown Hill has joined the City of Ballarat Engaging Communities Program. Local residents and business owners will receive a copy of the myNeighbourhood Brown Hill newsletter in their mailbox. Good news from the Ballarat Library.

Due to popular demand for its many and varied services, Saturday hours have been extended. The Ballarat Library, 178 Doveton St North, will now open 9.30am to 4pm, every Saturday. A new year, a new career Become a Family Day Care Educator and enjoy the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people, while doing a financially rewarding job. Educators are required to have a minimum of Certificate 3 in Children’s Services, are contracted through the City of Ballarat and set their own work schedule.

Cool off at Ballarat’s outdoor pools

Summer has arrived which means our outdoor pools are now open. Residents can cool off in Black Hill, Buninyong and Brown Hill. The City of Ballarat has invested $190,000 in the Black Hill Aquatic Centre ready for its re-opening. A new BBQ has also been delivered at Brown Hill. All three pools will remain open until the 6 March, 2016.

myBallarat on CD

Do you or someone you care for have visual impairments but wish to stay informed? The summer issue of myBallarat is now available on CD. Copies of the latest issue, as well as the winter and spring issues, are in the Ballarat Library system and can be borrowed. Copies are also available for pick up at the Ballarat Library, 178 Doveton St Nth, and at Customer Service, The Phoenix, Armstrong Street South. Our myBallarat magazine can also be heard with Readspeaker at www.ballarat.vic.gov.au

Royal Commission

The Royal Commission will hold the second part of the public hearing regarding Catholic Church authorities in Ballarat at the County Court of Victoria in Melbourne until Tuesday 15 December, 10am to 4pm. The Royal Commission will provide a webcast of proceedings regarding Ballarat in the Trench Room at the Ballarat Town Hall and proceedings will be streamed live on the Royal Commission website.
