BALLARAT CommBank staff and customers helped raise funds for the Clown Doctors in branch last Friday.
From 9.30 am to 4.00 pm, branch staff supported the Clown Doctors by dressing up in colourful clown costumes and decorating the branch.
Staff also sold cupcakes to customers.
The Clown Doctors are a not-for-profit organisation that treats sick kids in hospital with a different kind of medicine – fun and laughter. Throughout the month of March, CommBank branches across Australia will be raising funds in the lead up to the Clown Doctors’ national day of fundraising, Smile Day, on 1 April.
Donations to the Clown Doctors can be made online at commbank.com. au/clowndoctors. Brent Triplett, Ballarat CommBank Branch Manager, said: “We’ve been supporting the Clown Doctors for more than 16 years, and it’s a cause our staff are very passionate about. Through our fundraising day, we hope to help the Clown Doctors achieve their goal of conducting more Clown Rounds in hospitals across Australia, and we encourage local residents to come into the branch, share some laughs and make a donation.”
Melinda Farrell, CEO of the Clown Doctors, added: “Being in hospital brings with it a range of emotions, especially for young children. We aim to share a dose of laughter with kids to help them through this difficult time. Laughter is scientifically proven to have a positive benefit on the immune system and reduce stress and pain.
“We’d like to thank the Ballarat CommBank branch and those in the local community for their continued support. Your generosity will help put smiles on thousands of children’s faces.”
