A SPECIAL ceremony will be held on Saturday in Elaine as two synthetic courts are officially opened. Elaine Tennis Club together with Tennis Australia and Moorabool Shire Council to financed the resurfacing of the courts, which were constructed at the Elaine Recreation Reserve in mid-2013 and officially opened by Member for Western Victoria, Simon Ramsay who represented the Minister for Sport and Recreation.
Back then the two courts were asphalted, but now feature striking blue surfaces and a better playing surface.
The state government provided $50,000 from the Community Facility Funding Program to help fund the original construction of the multi-purpose courts while the Elaine Tennis Club raised $8800 for the current project, with Moorabool shire contributing $5000 and Tennis Australia $4400.
The Elaine Tennis Club reformed in 2010 with the Moorabool Shire Council contributing more than $80,000 towards the project since then.
Elaine Tennis Club has teams in the Buninyong District Tennis Association pennant competition.
