Chryssius Dunn of Little Luxe Balms has been nominated for the 2015 St George Banking Group AusMumpreneur Awards. The AusMumpreneur Awards presented by The AusMumpreneur Network celebrate and recognize Australian Mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service and digital innovation. The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family. “When my little boy was suffering from a horrendous case of nappy rash, my search to find healthier, chemical-free alternatives led me to start experimenting with good old-fashioned remedies that our grandparents would have used. Simple things like olive oil, oatmeal, herbs and infusions. Ingredients that are not only safe and good for your skin, but are edible too. I now run Little Luxe Balms from home, using natural ingredients to create nontoxic and chemical-free skincare for babies and young children, and write a blog designed to educate mothers about the potentially nasty ingredients found in popular commercial baby care products.” There are many benefits to balancing business and motherhood as Chryssius explains, “I love that I have the flexibility of working whilst the children are sleeping, and not being tied to a specific set of hours during the day. I can be there for my boys for the things that are important to THEM – like building forts in the lounge room, taking them to the playground, fighting imaginary ninjas, etc.” It can be challenging to be a successful business woman whilst raising a family and Chryssius gives this advice for others thinking about starting their own enterprise. ”If you have a passion, you need to follow it. Yes, everything is infinitely harder to do once you have kids, but as mothers we are already masters at juggling. So, if it is something you truly love, something you are truly passionate about, you will find a way to make it work.”
