Netball: Coming up to the finals-who will play?

Skipton goal attack Sarah Walker tries to control the ball.

COMING into Round 15 in the Central Highlands Netball League Learmonth is way and front and definite favourites to take the spoils. They look more than likely to be going through undefeated and definitely the side to beat. The fight was third is between four teams: Springbank, Dunnstown, Ballan, Buninyong and Skipton – the middle order is very close and it will make for interesting netball to see who ends up where.

Learmonth have come out fighting from the first round and have not stopped. The team is combining well and the new players that they had picked up are well gelled into the side. Learmonth’s strength would have to lie in their attack and any weaknesses in the team have been strengthened up. Springbank is coming together now, perfect timing for finals.

Skipton is also looking strong, after a loss early in the season, which sent them down the ladder a little bit but they are still strong contenders. Buninyong have picked up some tall players, so they will be a force to be reckoned with going forward into the finals. The pressure is on the Learmonth girls and time will tell whether they will buckle under it.

Predictions are that Buninyong is the side to watch while Skipton could be the dark horse. Dunnstown have the expertise and players who play in higher leagues, so it is a lot of experience in their side, one would hate to pick the finals but Learmonth are the top team and have to carry favouritism.
