THE countdown is now on for the 2016 Ballarat Cycle Classic. In its 9th year, the Cycle Classic has raised over $1.2 million, for the vital research projects being completed at the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institution. This year’s aim is to have over 2,000 participations registered to Ride 4 Research and help the Institute to advance the understanding and treatment of cancer.
The Cycle Classic offers a variety of courses to suit all levels of fitness. The popular Arthur J Gallagher Road Rides are a great challenge for any pro rider or keen road enthusiast, with 4 course options, with or without the Mt Buninyong mountain challenge. If you like a lot of ups and downs and the odd bump in the road, then the Cyclescape Mountain Bike challenges are for you. This year, the Ballarat Cycle Classic have increased the fun by adding 2 more courses to the mountain bike event, so there is should to be a course for anyone, young or old. The NAB Lake Relay is great event for the casual or social rider who is keen to be part of the Cycle Classic. The 2.5 hour relay event around Lake Wendouree starts and finishes at Cycle Central.
The Ballarat Cycle Classic is not all about cycling. One of the special events is the Lap of the Lake Celebration Walk. The 6km walk around the picturesque Lake Wendouree, is a fantastic opportunity to come together as a community to celebration and honour those impacted by cancer. If you just want to support the participation and just enjoy the atmosphere of the day. Join the crowds at the Ballarat Cycle Classic family fun day. There will be a mobile climbing wall, jumping castles, face painting and balloon &kids art,plus lots of food and drink options and live music all throughout the day.
