STAFF from North Ballarat Sports Club and players from Selkirk Roosters stopped by the Ballarat Health Services children’s ward on Friday afternoon to hand over a cheque for $1367 to the Ballarat Health Services Foundation. Foundation and Fundraising Director Geoff Millar said Run Ballarat, in conjunction with Cotton On who stage the event, raise funds from the event to help the hospital redevelop the children’s ward. “That (redevelopment) will happen over the next couple of years when other works around the hospital are put in place,” Mr Millar said.
“North Ballarat is here today because they have contributed money to the fund for the kids ward and without contributions from community organisations and sporting clubs the whole project would not be the success it is going to be.” Mark Bruty Manager of Marketing, Branding and Community at Selkirk Roosters added, “What we did, as we always do, we participated in the Run Ballarat, so portion of this (cheque) is from the team entry fees but we also made a concerted effort this year to actually raise funds on top of the entry fee. “So it’s not just club members but everyone who has been to North Ballarat and had a meal and made a donation, as well.” Mr Bruty said the Roosters have been involved with the hospital for a number of years.
“They are actually one of our match day charities – at our home games we have a designated charity that we support and Ballarat Health Services has been that for six or seven years and we’ll have them, again, this year because it’s just an added part of that relationship that we have with them,” he said
