FOR the second year father of two, Tavis Baker, will be riding around Lake Wendouree in an effort to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal, a cause he cares deeply about. He aims to ride for 24 hours around Lake Wendouree, which will cover approximately 100 laps or 600km. The ride will start from The Botanical Gardens Entrance, Lake Wendouree from 6 pm on April 2nd and will conclude on Good Friday April 3rd at 6pm. “Captain Koala, the CFA mascot, will make a special appearance from 10.00am – 11.00am Good Friday at Windmill Drive, Lake Wendouree. He and other CFA volunteers will be accepting donations,” Tavis said.
“Donations can also be made at collection tins located at Racers Car and Bar and Lake View Hotel.” His goal is to raise $5,000 to provide much needed funds for equipment, research and education at The Royal Children’s Hospital. The weather was not overly kind last year with pockets of rain drenching the riders but with the company of other riders for most of the 24 hours, Tavis completed the challenge easily. “Last year was very successful so I aim to make this one just as good,” he said. “This will be hard, I will be tired and sore but it will all be worth the effort to raise much needed funds for a world class children’s hospital. We all know someone who has needed the support of the Royal Children’s Hospital so this is about them.” Tavis invites the wider community to join him for a few laps.
