THE Australasian Guild of Town Criers will be holding their 27th Annual Guild Championships on Sunday 13th March in Bacchus Marsh and is one of the features of the Bacchus Marsh Harvest Festival. Currently nine Town Criers from Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and Canberra will be competing for the Championship Trophy, Senior Championship Trophy and the Best Content Theme Cry Tropy. The Harvest Festival is also providing the Mayoral Trophy which will be presented to the Best Ambassador for the Festival. Soldiers from the Victorian Re-enactment Society’s 40th Regiment of Foot will march the Moorabool Shire Deputy Mayor Cr Paul Tatchell along with the competing Town Criers and their consorts, from the Library at 10:30am to Eddie Toole Park.
The championship will start at 11am with the official opening, followed by the first of the Home Cries. At 1:30 will see the Theme Cries presented with the topic “The Harvest Festival”. Cr Paul Tatchell will be presenting the trophies.
