WENDOUREE mum Chryssius Dunn is one step closer in the 2015 St George Banking Group AusMumpreneur Awards. Ms Dunn who runs Little Luxe Balms said she was thrilled to have made it through as a finalist in the ‘People’s Choice: Handmade Business’ category.

The AusMumpreneur Awards presented by The AusMumpreneur Network celebrate and recognize Australian Mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service and digital innovation. The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.

Ms Dunn said she started her business after her son suffered from nappy rash. “My search to find healthier, chemical-free alternatives led me to start experimenting with good old-fashioned remedies that our grandparents would have used,” she said. “I use simple things like olive oil, oatmeal, herbs and infusions; ingredients that are not only safe and good for your skin, but are edible, too. “ Reflecting on the upcoming awards Chryssius said she wasn’t all that confident of winning but is honoured to have made it this far. “My business is so small and to be a finalist is just amazing,” she said.

“There are some really established businesses that I’m up against but you never know. “Just getting my name out there into the Ballarat community has been wonderful. There are so many mums these days looking for alternatives to the traditional sort of things that you can buy at the supermarket or the pharmacy, that are natural.” Ms Dunn added that she was taking the growth of her business one day at a time. “I would like to get bigger and make a name for myself and my products but my children are still young,” she said. “I am very anti chemicals; I like to think when we are putting things on our children and our babies that we are making the best choices.” Voting is still open at http://www.ausmumpreneur.com/2015-peoples-choicevoting/
