BALLARAT’S diversity and community spirit were on display during Monday’s Power FM Begonia Parade.
Thousands of onlookers lined Wendouree Parade to watch the colour and sound of the numerous community groups, schools and businesses who made their way along the iconic boulevard.
All entries were judged out of 20, with up to five points allocated for execution, theme and design, creativity, and entertainment value.
The 2018 awards were presented to the following winners:
Mayor’s Choice Award – Gum Long (Mount Blowhard, Sebastopol and Canadian Lead Primary Schools)
Best Schools Entry – Our Lady Help of Christians Primary School
Best Community Entry – Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council
Best Business Entry – Dance 2
The Beat Best Musical Entry – Federation University Australia Pipe Band
The Councillor’s Recognition Award was presented to Existdance.
One of few community parades still running, the Begonia Parade is iconic and a highlight of the Ballarat Begonia Festival.
